Baby Shower Candle Favors - Symbolic in Their Use
by Donna Gorenflo

As a person lights a candle, it can symbolize creation, as the burning flame covers the wick like brand new growth in the spring. The word candle literally means to shine, so really a candle is a representation of the hope and joy of renewal that shines forth with the birth of a new baby. The burning of a candle has for centuries, signified creation and renewal. Its position in the celebration of an expected birth at a baby shower is confirmed by history.

As a souvenir of remembrance, candle tins with designs or votives to match the shower theme can be used as favors to the guests. A larger version might also be given to the new mother so she can look back on how much her family and friends love her each and every time she lights it. Candles in jars make the most superb prizes and even exceptional shower gifts and can be discovered to complement any baby shower theme.

The giving of candles as favors to the guests came into being because they remind us of the blessed event. Every time the candle burns will bring back the memory of the baby shower, making it a fantastic memory trigger.

Candles are so perfect for baby shower decorations. The ambiance of the flaming candle is one of happiness and celebration. The new mom and the guests will welcome the pleasant glow of the candles. A centerpiece of flowers, teddy bears, storks, or whatever theme you prefer, with a center candle creates a beautiful finishing touch for the gift table.

Added to the beauty of candles is the smell that can awaken a sense of rebirth, innocence and softness that a newborn baby stirs in us. Arranging baby powder scented candles and pillars at various locations in the room will present a sense of serenity and tranquility, relaxing the expectant mother and her guests, ensuring an excellent experience for everyone.

To make a baby shower especially memorable, an assortment of candles can be set up with one for each and every shower guest and a larger version for the expectant mother. Lighting the candles starts with the expectant mother.

The new mother lights the biggest candle and expresses her wishes for her unborn child. Each guest then lights their candles from the mother's candle and bestows their blessings on the new child, such as May she be kind and compassionate or may he or she be a blessing to the new parents. This is a perfect opportunity for the baby shower guests to declare their support for the mommy and daddy. Observing as the light goes from one little flame to a shining glow, filling the room, adds to the fabulous baby shower memories.
