We have created 8 children’s stories which follow young children as they play and interact with one another and with their parents. These stories are not necessarily only for children; we believe parents (and adults in general) will appreciate the high standard of instruction and the great content found in this program as well!
The format for Hebrew Kindergarten is multi-media: using Audio and Visual techniques with games, quizzes, and matching exercises to augment the learning experience.
Multi-media Features
As mentioned above, Hebrew Kindergarten uses a multi-media approach to aid the instruction process. Each story appears in Hebrew characters with the vowel points already activated. Also, we have incorporated different features to ensure that you and your children learn the concept being taught.
One of these new features allows you to point your cursor at a Hebrew word and instantly a pop-up box appears with the transliterated pronunciation of the word with the English translation and its grammatical use. If you click on the word, you will hear the Hebrew pronunciation of the word, but this is not all…at the beginning of each sentence, you will find two buttons which, when clicked, will allow you to read an English translation of the sentence or you will be able to hear the sentence being spoken by an Israeli speaker.
One feature, called Auto-speak, allows you to hear the pronunciation of all the words of the story. As you progress through the program, another feature will allow you to turn-off the vowel points for each story. This will give you practice reading Hebrew without the use of vowel points, which is very valuable, as most Hebrew publications are written without vowel points. All Israeli children start to learn to read without vowels by the third or fourth grade.
The key concept for learning Hebrew (or any language) in Hebrew Kindergarten is carefully timed Repetition. To re-enforce this concept, we have added games, quizzes, and matching exercises.
All of our features are geared around the audio-visual format. One of our games is loosely based on the old television game show “Concentration.” The game is one of memory skill: the object is to find two occurrences of the same Hebrew word or the English translation of that word.
We use quizzes and good old-fashioned matching exercises to help you learn Hebrew. To make sure you are actually learning and not just memorizing the pattern of the presented material, the Hebrew Kindergarten program mixes the sequence of each question and answer: no two quizzes or matching exercises will be presented the same sequence.
Along with the above mentioned features, we highly recommend listening to the Audio portion (MP3 files or CDs) of each Story prior to using other parts of the program. This very important feature allows the listener to hear the English speaker interact with an Israeli speaker as the main grammar and language concepts are taught.
We believe it is better to listen and hear the stories before seeing them and trying to read them, thus, the system comes with 14 Audio CDs (which are also available as MP3 files). You can listen on any CD player or MP3 player.
Listening/Speaking Hebrew is an entirely different skill set than reading Hebrew. After following along to the Audios of each Story, then you will find the reading and grammar drills much easier and you will learn more quickly.
Characters and Stories
The stories will introduce you and your children to the characters David and his sister Channah as well as Adam and his friend Sarah as well as to other characters found in the 8 Stories. The stories will be teaching different concepts and proper grammar usage and syntax.
Story 1 teaches the concept of looking for a lost object. Story 2 teaches the idea of a family working together to build a toy car. Story 3 teaches the thought of mutual understanding using animal pets. Story 4 teaches friendship and play.
Story 5 teaches the concept of going to school. Story 6 teaches the idea of taste and different preferences for baked goods. Story 7 teaches the concept of classroom participation. Story 8 teaches irony using the Garden of Eden as the back drop.

We have included a very nice CD wallet which contains 14 CDs. CDs 1 through 13 contain the interactive English/Hebrew audio lessons for each of the 8 Stories. You get approximately 2 hrs of interactive audio for each story! CD 14 contains a simple reading of each Story, first read slowly and then at a more normal pace.
